Teaching Assistant Manningtree Information
Manningtree is a small town in Essex situated on the River Stour. Here you will discover incredible views over the Stour Estuary with plenty of countryside walks through 27 hectares of nature reserves.
Local history involves the wool, corn and timber trade, but the town had a dark period thanks to Matthew Hopkins, the infamous Witchfinder General who lived there from 1640. It is said that he executed many women he believed to be witches.
Life in Manningtree is much brighter these days with two popular local pubs, The Red Lion and The Skinners Arms, which serve excellent local ales. Visitors are often surprised to also find a well-stocked art gallery in the centre of the town called North House.
Manningtree has one high school and two primary schools, with many more in the surrounding areas.
