Teaching Assistant Hastings Information
Hastings is a popular seaside town in East Sussex with an illustrious history. It is famous for the Battle of Hastings, which took place in 1066, just 8 miles out of the town. When William the Conqueror slayed King Harold, the last of the Saxon kings, the Norman conquest truly began.
Today, the thousand-year-old castle ruin sits atop the hill, looking down majestically over the town. Below you can see the long seafront starting with the fishing port in the east and stretching past arcades and a funfair to the pier.
Hastings is blessed with shops, theatres, restaurants, museums and art galleries. You can also find many parks and open spaces in the area.
