Strategy Education are working with an SEN School in Southend on Sea who are looking for a bank of Learning Support Assistants to cover sickness and short-term absences.

• 9am – 3pm
• £80 – £95 per day

This Special Educational Needs (SEN) school caters for pupils aged 3 – 19, supporting a range of needs including Autistic Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, communication & interaction difficulties and various learning difficulties. Learning Support Assistants will be required to work with mixed groups of pupils whose main area of special educational need is Autism with moderate to severe learning difficulties (MLD or SLD).

Successful Learning Support Assistants will be enthusiastic and hard-working, with a passion for working with pupils with special educational needs. Previous experience in a role supporting young people with various learning difficulties is ideal.

This SEN school are looking to build up a bank of Learning Support Assistants who are available at short notice to cover absences, both planned and unplanned. Due to the needs of the children, the school love the idea of being able to call upon friendly faces! This offers you the chance to work flexibly to suit other commitments. However, the school is open to these Learning Support Assistant roles becoming long-term.

The ability to work as part of a team is essential, as you will be working alongside a team of at least one teacher and one other Learning Support Assistant. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be providing skilled support to learners with learning, behavioural, communication, social, sensory and or physical difficulties.

The successful Learning Support Assistants will be able to quickly build strong relationships with pupils, modelling positive behaviour at all times. You will understand that these pupils all have specific learning needs and styles which, in turn, requires the need for differentiated levels of support individually and within a group. An understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and how best to support these learners is advantageous.

The successful Learning Support Assistants will be subject to a variety of checks including: eligibility to work in the UK, an enhanced DBS disclosure and full references including one from your most recent employer.
