SEN Teacher (Bury St Edmunds)

Strategy Education are working with an SEN school in Bury St Edmunds who are looking for an SEN Teacher for their Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils.

This SEN school caters for pupils who have Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). They are on the hunt for a dynamic and inspiring SEN Teacher to teach their pupils.

This SEN Teacher role requires you to teach subjects including Art, DT, Food Technology and Life Skills to pupils aged 11-16. You will provide a safe and secure educational and caring environment in which children and young people with complex moderate learning difficulties will receive specialist teaching to develop the self-respect, self-confidence, self-control, self-advocacy and self-dependence necessary for participation as members of their community. The teaching that you deliver will promote students’ intellectual, physical, social, emotional, moral and spiritual development, enabling them to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding to integrate within the school community as well as their later adult life.

The successful SEN Teacher will have UK QTS and have experience teaching pupils with SEN (Special Educational Needs). Part of your role will require you to take pastoral responsibility for a tutor group of KS3 or KS4 students and communicate with multidisciplinary agencies, prepare reports, referrals as requested by the Head of School / Key Stage Lead. You will have an understanding of specialist strategies to address difficulties in the areas of communication, social interaction, sensory regulation and extremes of behaviour and have knowledge surrounding how SEN needs can affect a student’s learning and development.

The successful SEN Teacher will be subject to a variety of checks including: eligibility to work in the UK, an enhanced DBS disclosure and full references including one from your most recent employer.
