Strategy Education are looking for support staff for a SEN school in Grays Thurrock. These are new posts available due to the continued expansion of this forward-looking and innovative Special School. The school offer fantastic opportunities for continuous professional development including training courses and the chance to progress within the school.
SEN Teaching Assistant
You will be an empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant who has at least 6 months experience supporting students that are on the Autistic spectrum. You will be enthusiastic, patient and resilient with a keen interest in developing your SEN understanding.
The school offer full training, have a supportive leadership team and are looking for permanent positions for an immediate start.
Duties include
• Assisting in the development of individualised programmes for students in the school.
• Implementing these programmes on either a 1:1, 1:2, or small group basis, dependent on the needs of the student(s).
• Collecting accurate data on both challenging behaviour and skills gained by the pupils throughout the school day.
• Maintaining records in each students’ individual folder.
• Supervising pairs or small groups of students at breaks and lunch times, encouraging independence, social play with their peers and appropriate behaviour.
• Reporting any safeguarding concerns to the safeguarding leads.
• Forming and maintaining good relationships with the children and young adults of the school; based on mutual respect, trust and understanding
• Assisting with the physical and self-care needs of the children and young adults as they require; including, but not limited to, any toileting procedures.
• Willing to work across all year groups termly or half termly.
The school are looking for passionate staff who have a genuine interest in working with SEN students with a wide range of learning difficulties including Autism, ADHD, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound, Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) across all key stages.
