This is an exciting opportunity for either an experienced curriculum leader or a talented RE teacher who is ready to take the next step in their career.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping and leading the RE curriculum across the school, ensuring it is ambitious, inclusive, and reflective of statutory requirements and best practice.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
• Deliver high-quality Religious Education lessons across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 where applicable)
• Inspire students to engage critically and thoughtfully with religious, philosophical and ethical issues
• Use a range of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners
• Monitor student progress and implement strategies to secure strong outcomes
Curriculum Leadership
• Lead the design, implementation and review of the RE curriculum
• Ensure the curriculum is coherent, well-sequenced and aligned with the school’s vision
• Keep up to date with developments in RE education and examination specifications
• Support colleagues in delivering high-quality RE through guidance and shared resources
Assessment & Standards
• Develop effective assessment strategies to inform teaching and learning
• Analyse attainment and progress data to drive improvement
• Contribute to whole-school priorities around curriculum, teaching and learning
Wider Contribution
• Work collaboratively within the Humanities department and wider school community
• Contribute positively to the school’s ethos and extra-curricular provision
• Engage in professional development and, where appropriate, support the development of others
The Ideal Candidate
We welcome applications from:
• Experienced RE teachers with leadership experience, or
• Ambitious teachers ready to step into a curriculum leadership role
You will:
• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Have strong subject knowledge and a passion for Religious Education
• Demonstrate the ability to lead or contribute to curriculum development
• Be reflective, organised and committed to continuous improvement
• Share our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
