Strategy are working alongside a school based in Sutton who are currently seeking a reliable, hardworking and flexible 6th Form Learning and Job Coach to join their established specialist autism secondary school.

They are looking for a Job Coach who has:
• an understanding of/interest in autism
• experience of working with children or vulnerable adults in an education or care setting
• an ability to work as part of a team and to use their initiative to support and implement the schools approach to helping pupils who have a range of needs associated with having autism
• a calm, patient manner and ability to react positively to extreme levels of behaviour
• GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths

The position will involve:
• Working throughout the 6th form Department, supporting learners to ensure that they receive their entitlement to an appropriate post 16 curriculum which meets their discrete needs and learning styles.
• Supporting learners in their chosen college placements to enable them to achieve accredited courses that in turn provide a pathway to further education, vocational training or employment.
• To accompany learners to college, supporting them with travel training and enabling them to improve their personal independence skills.
• To support all learners in work experience opportunities.
• To liaise with managers and other employees in order to develop and create clear roles and areas of responsibility for each learner at work.

The school cater for 11-19 year old pupils with autism, Asperger’s and challenging behaviour. This is a permanent full-time post. Experience working in this environment is a must, please email me your up to date CV outlining your experience.
